# Setting Up Motion Controls

Motion controls allow you to control gravity in Lizard by tilting your device, creating dynamic and engaging physics interactions.

## Enabling Motion Controls

### Initial Setup
When you first launch Lizard, you'll be prompted:
1. **Allow Motion & Orientation Access**
2. **Tap "Allow"** to enable tilt controls
3. The app will immediately start responding to device tilts

### If You Missed the Initial Prompt
1. Open **iOS Settings**
2. Scroll down and tap **"Lizard"**
3. Enable **"Motion & Orientation"**
4. Return to the Lizard app

## How Motion Controls Work

### Basic Mechanics
- **Tilt Direction**: Lizards fall toward the direction you tilt your device
- **Tilt Angle**: Stronger tilts create more dramatic gravity changes
- **Real-time Response**: Gravity changes immediately as you move your device

### Device Orientation Support
- **Portrait**: Tilt left/right and forward/back
- **Landscape**: Full 360-degree gravity control
- **Upside-down**: All orientations supported
- **Automatic Adjustment**: App adapts to your current orientation

## Using Motion Controls Effectively

1. **Hold Steadily**: Use both hands for better control
2. **Smooth Movements**: Make deliberate, gradual tilting motions
3. **Avoid Jerky Movements**: Sudden movements can cause erratic behavior

## Troubleshooting Motion Controls

### Gravity Not Responding
1. **Check Permissions**: Ensure Motion & Orientation is enabled in iOS Settings
2. **Restart App**: Close and reopen Lizard
3. **Restart Device**: Reboot your iPhone/iPad
4. **Calibration**: Hold device level for 5 seconds, then start tilting

### Erratic or Overly Sensitive Motion
1. **Steady Handling**: Use both hands for better control
2. **Smooth Tilting**: Avoid sudden jerky movements
3. **Reset Calibration**: Close/reopen app and hold device level
4. **Check for Interference**: Remove any magnetic cases or accessories

### Motion Controls Disabled
- **No Problem**: You can still enjoy Lizard without motion controls
- **Alternative Gravity**: Lizards will fall downward based on your device orientation
- **Re-enable Anytime**: Follow the setup steps above to turn motion controls back on

## Privacy and Data

### What Motion Data is Used
- **Device Orientation**: Only used for gravity direction
- **Local Processing**: All motion data stays on your device
- **No Data Collection**: Motion information is never transmitted or stored

### Disabling Motion Controls
If you prefer to play without motion controls:
1. Open **iOS Settings**
2. Go to **"Lizard"**
3. Disable **"Motion & Orientation"**
4. Gravity will default to downward direction
